New year, new decade, time for new emergency kits! It is always a good thing to be prepared, just in case. I know there are many places that have emergency kits that are pre-made, but how do you know they have what they need inside? Here is what your emergency kit, homemade or not, should have inside it:
- First Aid Kit: All the basics plus any medications, eyeglasses, and hearing aids.
- Bottled Water: It is recommended a gallon of water per person a day.
- Food: Non-perishable and easy to prepare food for your household and pets. Don't forget utensils, can opener, paper towels, and garbage bags.
- Flashlights & Batteries: Make sure the batteries are checked often and you can find them.
- Battery or Crank-Operated Radio: You will rely on this for news if your phone or internet is not working.
- Coolers or Ice Chests: This will be needed to store anything perishable in case of lengthy emergencies.
- Special Needs Items: Anything for children, elderly, or disabled.
