Let's talk Gas, which for most tenants is provided by SoCal Gas. When it comes to Gas Emergencies, trust all of your senses. If you think something smells funny, or if there is a strange sound coming from the kitchen-check it out right away. Start to look around, you won't see the gas as it is colorless-but you may see a damaged connection to a gas power appliance.
Once you have confirmed or determined your gas leak, do not light any matches or flames. Do not turn any appliances on as that may cause a spark. Get to a safe location. Once you are safe, contact your gas provider as well as your property manager.
Once the proper people have been notified, we will work together to remedy the situation as soon as possible. As property manager, it is important that each rental has the proper amount of Carbon Monoxide detectors in the home and that their batteries are working. Once you are a tenant in the home, it is up to you to maintain them so that they can protect you.
Something to consider if your home houses children or pets, is to keep supplies (the more important ones) in a place that is always clean and ready to go so that should the emergency strike, you can get you and yours out in a timely manner and turn the situation over to us and let us take it from there.
